Avoid the crowds and camp when it's slightly cold and rainy. It's worth it to have this magical place all to yourself.
I hope you love new skies
And my carefully curated allies
The flowers that blossom in spring
And the fear that changes bring
Now we're lit up by the city
We're so itty bitty
The pond where we live has grown
But really, so have we
Taken during a time of transition.
These photos were shot throughout February on 35mm film we found at a garage sale for $1.
Some of the first moments of the year - often a result of waking up on a free day and saying 'let's go somewhere.'
Here are a couple of my favourite moments from the last wedding my partner and I shot. Kelly and John found us through Instagram and we were very excited to shoot the wedding of two people we didn't already know! We were also a little nervous - but that went away very quickly after meeting the ultra laid back couple. Photographing a wedding in this case barely felt like work. The location was beautiful, the people welcomed us as if we were there as guests and it's truly an amazing experience to be around people who are happy and celebrating such a milestone day.
A recommended read by Steven Pressfield for anyone who needs a creative push.
This weekend Gage and I had our first band shoot. We did some fun promo photos for Odder than the Otters, a super awesome Winnipeg band who also happens to be our friends! We wanted to show their quirky personalities while also capturing some classic rock star band photos. I think they turned out well. If you know a local band that needs some photos done, give us a shout! Here are a few of my favourite shots.
We spent our anniversary at an artist retreat in a Mongolian Yurt in Waldersee. It was one of the most unique experiences I've had in Manitoba. An important reminder of how good it feels to power down and live presently. Feeling fresh.
When you're really lucky, you get to see a friend you met in another country more than once.
I've launched a new website called Wild Bella. It's vegan and gluten free recipes and mindfulness practices. Through my recipes and writing, I want to share with you what my outlook on food is. I believe cooking is a creative outlet. Food can be healing. A big part of health is also having a peaceful mind.
I'm currently training to become a Certified Culinary Nutrition Expert through the Academy of Culinary Nutrition. I hope you enjoy it!
